Understanding Soil Health.
-
No. Soil Health is a self-practice and reflection tool, not a clinical or medical service. As founder Nina Glenny put it in a recent interview: "I'm a little careful about calling it therapy, we shouldn't replace people. But Soil functions as an everyday tool that helps you check in with yourself." If you're looking for clinical care, a licensed therapist is the right place to start. Soil Health is built for the moments you just need a little space to think, reflect and listen to yourself.
-
Soil Health offers a private, on-demand space for everyday reflection: talking things through, noticing patterns, and questioning the stories you carry. Therapy offers licensed clinical care: diagnosis, treatment, and support for what a self-practice tool isn't built to hold. Both have a place. Soil Health is there for the moments you need room to think, not clinical support.
-
You talk, out loud, the same way you'd talk to a person. Your AI coach listens, asks thoughtful questions, and after each conversation reflects back what may be emerging: recurring themes, beliefs, or patterns worth a closer look. It follows a simple loop: Discover, Reflect, Reframe. See exactly what a session looks like →
-
No. Soil Health is designed to ask reflective questions, not hand you answers. We think of it as a mirror, not a solution: the aim is to help you hear your own thinking more clearly, not to tell you what to think. Read more about our approach to AI ethics →
-
There's something speaking does that reading or writing alone can't quite reach. Putting a feeling into words has a real effect on how we process it, and saying it out loud, in a live conversation, keeps the thought moving. A question lands, you feel what comes up, and you put it into words before you've had time to tidy it. That flow is often where a real insight surfaces, the kind that comes up intuitively rather than from overthinking.
For Individuals.
-
You have a real, voice-based conversation with your AI coach: about a relationship, a decision, something that keeps triggering you, or just a feeling you want to understand better. There's nothing to prepare and no right words to find first. Afterward, My Pattern reflects back what may be emerging across your sessions, and whenever a belief feels worth a closer look, Let's Reframe helps you question it. See how a session works →
-
Core beliefs are the deep, basic ideas you carry about yourself, other people, and the world: the roots everything else grows from. They usually form early and work quietly in the background, shaping how you react, decide, and relate, often without you noticing until you look closer.
-
My Strategies are the patterns you lean on to navigate your core beliefs: ways of creating safety, belonging, or direction when something feels uncertain or hard, things like Structuring, Connecting, or Striving. They're strategies you use, not a personality type you are, and the same person can lean on different ones in different moments. Soil Health helps you notice which ones are active, not to label you, just to help you look a little closer.
For Couples.

My Bonds is a guided space to practice difficult conversations with someone you're close to: gentle guidance while you talk, and your own private reflection afterward. It's built on Gottman Institute research, and it isn't live yet. Learn more and get notified →
-
My Reactions draws on the Gottman Institute's research identifying four patterns that most reliably predict conflict: criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Each has a specific antidote: gentle start-up, building a culture of appreciation, taking responsibility, and self-soothing. While you're in a My Bonds conversation, your AI coach gently guides you toward the antidote in the moment, whenever one of these shows up, and your private reflection afterward includes what your own patterns looked like. No. My Bonds works for any two people in a relationship: a partner, a family member, or a close friend, as long as you're both using Soil Health yourselves.
-
My Bonds is built for close personal relationships rather than professional ones. If a work conversation is what you need support with, Soil Health's individual coaching may be the better fit.
-
No. Every person in a My Bonds conversation needs their own Soil Health account, and accounts require you to be at least 18.
-
No. My Bonds gives you one shared conversation, but two private reports. Whoever you talk with never sees what you write in your own reflection, and nothing in either report ever characterizes the other person.
-
Each of you gets your own private reflection based on what came up in the shared conversation: patterns you personally showed up with, and something to think about before your next conversation. Nothing about the other person's private reflection is shared with you, and nothing of yours is shared with them.

Your coaching conversations are private. We store them under a random ID, never sell them, and never use them to train AI. Your sessions are only shared with our AI provider through Soil Health's enterprise API, and your name and account are never attached. Every conversation sent through our enterprise account is deleted within 30 days. You can ask for a copy of your data, or have it deleted, any time by emailing contact@soil.health.

-
Yes. Soil Health is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
-
You can cancel any time through your app store account settings; your access continues until the end of your current billing period. Refunds follow the app store's own policies, so we don't issue them directly.
-
Sessions are meant for reasonable personal use. If your usage runs far beyond what's typical, we'll reach out before anything else, most often just to talk about a plan that fits how you're actually using Soil Health.
Getting help.
-
Email us at contact@soil.health and we'll help you sort it out.
-
Switching tabs or apps mid-session, like stepping away to pause a video, interrupts the connection. Keep Soil Health as the only open tab or app during a session, and it should run smoothly start to finish.
-
Close the app fully and reopen it; that resolves it most of the time. If it's still stuck after that, email contact@soil.health and we'll help.
-
Press the exit button in the app when you're ready to finish. That ends the session cleanly and lets your reflection generate properly.
-
We don't recommend going much past 30 minutes. Partly that's technical, longer sessions push against what the app can reliably manage, but it's intentional too: a session isn't meant to loop on indefinitely, and there's real value in choosing to close a conversation rather than letting it run on.
-
This usually means you've used the sessions included in your current billing period. The paywall clears automatically once your subscription resets; timing depends on your plan. If something still looks off, email contact@soil.health and we'll take a look.
